My Little Trading Account Is Up 28% For October?!?

Posted by Sean | October 30, 2008 .

Alright. I closed out my little three day romp with Brazil. Or rather, I set a (too tight?) trailing stop loss near the morning peak and it triggered in an hour or so. EWZ went on to have a small rally at the end of the day. Ehhh… it can run without me. I don’t [...]

I Love Trying To Find The Stock Market Bottom. I Hate Trying To Find The Top.

I had just enough time to unload my little trading account from cash back into emerging markets Tuesday morning. It was a less than perfect entrance, but I’m up over 12% despite today’s last-minute selloff. Probably more if the after-hours means anything.
Now the hard part.
Realistically, how much can we expect from [...]

Life Is Good.

Posted by Sean | October 28, 2008 .

Mother and daughter are home and healthy. Life is good. I could write so much about so many things, but for now, I just want to spend more time with my girls. Maybe I’ll resume writing when dear wife finally gets some real sleep.

Baby Week

Posted by Sean | October 21, 2008 .

This is the week… baby week. She is due on Friday. Or maybe tomorrow. Heck, it could be tonight. The wife and I are wrapping up a few last-minute things. Not much time for blogging. Maybe I’ll have to start tweeting. On the bright side… despite the economy, we are not worried about money. Thank [...]

Whew! Busy weekend. We are in pursuit of a low-mileage, highly-depreciated vehicle. We stand to save a bundle, but it takes time. Less time to post until we do the deed.

My last stab at the market bottom was decent, but I was not very greedy on the way up. I’m thinking about giving it another go tomorrow. We’ll see. Logically, I know the math is against me in speculation. This is more about getting my recommended daily allowance of risk taking. [...]

How To Cancel Entertainment.com

We got the 2009 book, but cancelled future editions. We don’t know how often we’ll get out after the newborn. The only thing we know we’ll use is $20 at Shop ‘N’ Save. In theory, the grocery coupons provide a baseline for savings…
However…

If grocery coupons skip a year, the value is [...]

Darn You, Audible.com

Posted by Sean | October 12, 2008 .

I was going to quit Audible.com last month, until…

I’ve probably gone back and forth with Audible subscriptions three times, maybe more. They make the introductory offers irresistable. Now they have 3 months for $7.49 each.
I did the intro offer, planned to pump and dump… then along came Warren Buffett. Arrrgh! Now I’m doing [...]

10% Off Day @ The Grocery Store… Why Not?

Posted by Sean | October 11, 2008 .

Our nearby grocery store has a "Spend $50+, Get $10 Off" special almost every Thursday. When this promotion began it was a big deal. People would empty the shelves like a pack of hungry beagles. Lately it seems slower, like it is any other day. Has the novelty wore off? I’d guess that over the [...]

Red Tag Mayhem at the Supermarket

DW and I went grocery shopping Thursday. I wish I took a picture. Seriously, half the store had red tag specials. Not just a nickel here and a dime there. 20% and 33% off everywhere. I know the price of gas is dropping and everything, but wow.
And we are talking about… [...]
