Today, I’d like to introduce one of the resources @ FR: The Financial Radio Guide
You might be surprised. Of the 11 shows in my city, I was initially familiar with 3. Where did all these other shows come from? It turns out, some of them are local and not available through iTunes. Others were national but unfamiliar for whatever reason. In most cities, the shows are spread across several radio stations. Even if you are a fan of radio you can be surprised by the selection.
by the numbers…
Of the 60 cities in this guide, these shows are the most prevalent.
Marketplace (53 cities)
Mutual Fund Show (37 cities)
WSJ This Morning (31 cities)
MoneyTalk w/ Brinker (29 cities)
Marketplace Money (27 cities)
Dave Ramsey Show (27 cities)
Clark Howard Show (23 cities)
WSJ This Weekend (20 cities)
Ric Edelman Show (12 cities)
You might recognize these shows from iTunes. Who needs radio?
Digging deeper, over 2/3 of the shows are in one major market.
71% - only one market
29% - multiple markets
These shows will often have local hosts, local callers and local issues. And many of them are not available via iTunes. They might have a download option on the local radio station website, but not always. Also, sometimes the podcasts are shortened, compared to the live radio shows.
By being built using Wordpress, the guide is designed to be self-updating. If your city’s schedule gets out-of-date, simply add the updated information in the comment section for that city.
