Great resources! We are thinking about buying a car soon, and this will definitely help us get the best deal. But you are right: Car shopping is exhausting.

Well, I know it’s financially smarter to buy a used car, but I must confess that I bought my current vehicle new.

It was the first time in my life (first time I could afford to, heh), and this is the first car I haven’t had any problems with. Two of my three previous cars left me stranded, and the other one developed a couple of weird problems that the mechanics could never identify but which always left me nervous about being stranded again. All these cars had been checked out before they were purchased, so it ticked me off that they all ended up having problems.

With the current car, I know all the maintenance has been done in a timely manner and there are no hidden issues that were covered up. I’ve yet to have a problem (3 and a half years later) and since I bought a hybrid, it turned out to be a pretty good choice in the long run.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend buying a new car for anyone, but for me it was worth the added expense. And it’s paid off at this point, so it doesn’t matter too much any more. ;)

Hi Lindsay, thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like you did good. I’m not sure it was any more expensive buying the new car… depending on how long you plan to keep it and how long it is reliable. I haven’t attacked the numbers from every angle, but I think we’re leaning towards new, too. Unless the used car math somehow gets compelling.

When buying a used car online you must make sure you take the car to the dealership for a complete check. The auto dealership is the only one with the prober computers find anything wrong with your usedcar. Thanks The usedcarboss
