Money Roundup: Financial Collapse Edition

If you’re looking for a bit of perspective on the root cause of the 2008 financial crisis, I suggest checking out “Wall Street and the Financial Crisis.” As of now, you can grab the Kindle version for free, or download the pdf.

Despite having been penned by a Senate Subcommittee, it’s a surprisingly readable treatment of what went wrong. In short, our troubles resulted from a mix of risky lending, regulatory failures, inflated credit ratings, and investment bank abuses.

It’s full of interesting (and sometimes troubling) facts and analyses as well as recommendations for avoiding a repeat performance. If you’re curious, it’s definitely worth checking out. And the price is certainly right. 😉
