Money Roundup: Kindle Paperwhite Edition

by Michael on Dec 29, 2013

All I wanted for Christmas was… A Kindle Paperwhite. And, thanks to my lovely and talented wife, I got one. And boy do I love it. I’ve actually had an older Kindle (the one with a keyboard) for a couple of years, but it never really clicked.

Don’t get me wrong, the older Kindle was nice, but it always seemed… Hmmm. How best to describe it? It always seemed to be just a bit too clunky for my taste.

But that’s all changed with the Paperwhite. The form factor is small, but not too small. The built-in lighting is fantastic, resulting in a paper-like display that just sort of glows. And the official case from Amazon fits it like a glove.

As for details…

I got the wifi version w/special offers. My older Kindle was 3G-enabled but I rarely used that — and my phone doubles as a wifi hotspot when needed. As for the special offers, they’re not really intrusive, but I’ll probably pay the $20 to remove them.

All in all, the Paperwhite is a joy to use. Highly recommended.

And now… Here are some articles that caught my eye this past week:

That’s it. I hope you’ve been enjoying a well-deserved holiday break.
