"This is your show and I’m here to serve you, with advice and info that you can put to work in your wallet each and every day, so you can save more, spend less, and not get ripped off."

title: The Clark Howard Show
format: podcast
length:~69 minutes (2 parts)
frequency: daily, weekdays
preconceptions: none (who?)

There are plenty of interchangeable financial podcasts, but the Clark Howard Show is not one of them. The program is a unique blend of consumer education tips, current news and emerging trends, energy tips, economic insights… and good old-fashioned tightwaddery.

You might not expect economic insights from the same person who tells you how to "hypermile" your razor blades. Yet his bio says Clark founded a travel agency in 1981 and sold it in 1987 to retire at 31 years old, so he is equally skilled at saving and earning. He also seems to have an insatiable curiosity and a team of tenacious researchers. Listen to the show for any length of time and you will get "beyond the basics" in many areas.

Other reviews of the show almost always rate the content as five-stars. The only complaints were too many commercials and poor audio quality. But now the podcast is completely commercial-free, so each hour of the broadcast is consensed to 34 minutes. I cannot comment on the prior audio quality, but I find the current podcast very listenable. (I also like that Clark does not have a "classic" radio voice.)

The shows comes in two 34-minute parts, Hour 1 & Hour 2. Each of those sections are then divided into two main topics. One of the best parts of the podcast is that the day’s main topics are visible in the iTunes description. This means you are free to choose only the topics you find the most interesting. If you are tight on time, it can be a huge advantage over the "black box" podcasts like Dave Ramsey or Ric Edelman.

Bottom-Line: I like Clark! He just grows and grows on you. I might be tempted to cherry-pick the topics I like when time is scarce, but that could keep me from getting burned out, too.
